For more than 15 years, GenNext Mentors have been changing the lives of at-risk youth throughout Southern California. With a focus on prevention, GenNext is committed to addressing the temptations and difficulties that many Armenian youth face including drugs, crime, gang violence, and family issues. By pairing kids with volunteer Mentors, we are able to insert the encouragement and support needed to help at-risk youth succeed in school and in life.
Want to change a life today? We are looking for volunteers, 21 years of age and older, to serve as Mentors and dedicate 2-3 hours a week to positively impact the life of young Armenians.
Becoming a GenNext Mentor is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do, and the guidance and friendship that you will provide our Mentees is invaluable.
The results are clear.
“Being a mentor for the past three years has been incredibly gratifying. It’s amazing what a big difference a little effort can make in a kid’s life. I’ve learned just as much from my mentee as he has from me. It’s great to be 14 again. “—Eddy, GenNext Mentor
“Having a mentor made me open my eyes to my future and think about college and my life.” —Alex, GenNext Mentee
No special skills or background are needed to be a Mentor and we offer training and ongoing support throughout the year. All Mentors attend a training session prior to being matched with a Mentee and special workshops are offered by professional psychologists, educators, and youth workers to help with particular circumstances.
